Early Childhood

About the program

The New Music School Early Childhood program is taught to students ages 1.5 to 3 years old. Aleksandra Jovanovic teaches students the Kodály method, developing ear and sight-singing abilities in children. Singing traditional Americana folk songs, as well as folk songs from all over the world, Aleksandra works on developing the ear of each child. Additionally, children learn doh - re - mi - in fixed doh and hand gestures. Recognizing the two foundations of music are melody and rhythm, the Early Childhood Class teaches children rhythm with creative movement lessons to reinforce and learn meter (beat).

Play Groups

If your child is part of a play group and you are interested in having New Music School provide an Early Childhood Class in your home, please contact New Music School at 312 612 1969. Play group class sessions can begin at any time. Each Play Group Session will last eight weeks and consist of the same curriculum model taught at our Chicago Loop location.

The Process

When we have a minimum of four children interested at a time, a private group class is formulated for an eight week session. The cost of the eight week session is $270 and includes eight lessons, a glockenspiel, and CD. To inquire about starting, you can fill out the form to the right on this page or call 312 612 1969.
