We offer Fall, Spring, and Summer lessons in a wide range of instruments and program levels to children ages 3-18. Through our lessons, students are exposed to training in repertoire, theory, solfege, orchestral excerpts, and many more career building and formative elements. All of our lessons are upbeat, intense, and highly interactive since we believe these qualities make for the best possible learning environment.
Lessons are held at our school located at 30 East Adams in Chicago, as well as at students homes and at satellite locations. In addition, all lesson programs are tailored to fit each student's needs, goals, and availability. These advantages allow our students to follow very viable and sustainable music learning paths, and they also make New Music School by far the most flexible option for music lessons in the entire Chicago area.
Rates for lessons vary based on instrument, location and other criteria, but a great number of them start at only $30 per session!
At New Music School, the priority is making sure the student/teacher relationship is sound. Once you are ready to enroll your child, NMS will set up one private lesson with a recommended teacher. If the relationship between the student and teacher is great, NMS will officially register your child in our program. If there is not a perfect match, we would follow the same process with another teacher until the relationship is agreed on by both the child and teacher. At NMS, we are confident there is a teacher for your child.
Once your child is taking lessons for three to five weeks, your child will be placed into one of the two curriculum based programs: (please note, if you are looking for an or college preparatory program, please review the New Music School Fellows Program)

Young Artist
The Young Artist Program is designed for students to learn fundamentals and hone their technique. This program was built to create foundation.
