The Cello Department
at New Music School

Redefining cello lessons in Chicago...

The New Music School Cello department aims to deliver the finest cello lessons in Chicago and suburbs by presenting repertoire and technique in new and exciting directions. Instruction is offered for both children and adults. Parents can choose from either Traditional or Suzuki cello methods.

From the first day of lessons an emphasis is placed on core fundamentals. Students continue through the cello curriculum learning significant repertoire, all the while addressing the fundamentals necessary for all levels of performance. New Music School cello students also learn how the cello relates to all the fine arts by working with renowned professional vocalists, dancers, artists, and actors. Finally, our cello students are exposed to artist teachers through master classes with internationally known cellist along with the opportunity to attend other instructional master classes.

Cello lessons are held at our downtown Chicago school and satellite locations. Training occurs at all ages in theory, ear training, sight singing, technique, and history.
