Redefining violin lessons in Chicago...

The New Music School Violin department aims to deliver the finest violin lessons in Chicago and suburbs by presenting repertoire and technique in new and exciting directions. Instruction is offered for both children and adults. Parents can choose from either Traditional or Suzuki violin methods.

From the first day of lessons an emphasis is placed on core fundamentals. Students continue through the violin curriculum learning significant repertoire, all the while addressing the fundamentals necessary for all levels of performance. New Music School violin students also learn how the violin relates to all the fine arts by working with renowned professional vocalists, dancers, artists, and actors. Finally, our violin students are exposed to artist teachers through master classes with internationally known violinists along with the opportunity to attend other instructional master classes.

Violin lessons are held at our downtown Chicago school, satellite locations, and in our students' homes - both in the city and suburbs, including Lake Forest, Highland Park, Glenview, Deerfield, Oak Park, River Forest, Downers Grove, and Wheaton. Training occurs at all ages in theory, ear training, sight singing, technique, and history.

The NMS faculty team up to offer an accelerated violin program. The Fellow and Junior Fellow program is the perfect place for a student or parent looking for the college preparatory experience. Enrollment is limited to 8 Fellow and 30 Junior Fellows annually.
