Student Profile

A Parent's Perspective

New Music School immerses its students in a music culture unparalleled in the Chicagoland area. Instruction begins with the Suzuki-based method for most string students, then quickly transitions into a student-specific program to ensure that each student achieves their individual goals. NMS instructors are more than just musical mentors, they became an extension of our family and are sincerely committed to the enrichment and development of our daughter's skills, techniques and musical experiences which cultivates a spirit of performance at the highest level.

We watched our daughter transform from a shy young girl into a confident and successful young woman. Recitals, competitions, and concerts from intimate venues to large auditoriums including the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park throughout the year showcases each student's music aptitude. Those are the experiences that shape and cultivate unforgettable memories for students, families and friends and reinforce a student's confidence and self-esteem.

Our daughter chose to become a professional musician, and her decision was directly influenced by her experiences with NMS. Their college preparatory programs and world-class instructors were instrumental for our daughter's success with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and her public school's music programs.

Bravo to the NMS for being a Chicago jewel inspiring and equipping young musicians to become their very best!
