Q:Please describe your overall experience at New Music School. A: “I enjoy my experience at NMS, and particularly the master classes. They open my eyes to different perspectives and complete my understanding of my repertoire.” Q:Describe the best performance experience that you have participated in at New Music School and how that helped develop your musicianship. A: “I really enjoyed performing with the Chicago Arts Orchestra. It brought me not only a deeper understanding of my piece, but also taught me how to control my tempo and really listen carefully to the unique voices of the different instruments.” Q:What type of life lessons have you gained through the discipline of studying music? A: “I’ve learned to not bite off more than I can chew, and to practice better time management when preparing for anything, like recitals, competitions, and school exams.” Q:How has your teacher/NMS prepared you for success outside of NMS? A: “Practicing for hours and hours and still not getting the music right is a humbling experience. You’re always having to readjust and be open to different ideas or techniques. I think my experience in music makes me a more adaptable person.” |
